In Bed with a Mosquito

An award-winning documentary short about 78-year-old anti-war protester Betty Brassell, IBWAM is an intimate portrait of activism and aging in New York City. Watch it on Vimeo.

In Montreal. Getting ready to do a little self promotion tonight. “In Bed with a Mosquito” screens tomorrow night at Montreal’s famed Cinema du Parc.

So my film rarely gets views on video, yet yesterday, 9/11 saw about 175 views. Hmmm… To bad Vimeo doesn’t have a really great InSight program like YouTube does.

In Bed with a Mosquito will be featured as part of the Museum of Modern Art’s (eek! yes! theMOMA!!!!!) annual documentary film exhibition, Documentary Fortnight.

Mosquito will screen February 14 at 6 pm (yes, Valentine’s Day) alongside Our Lady Queen of Harlem, a touching short doc by my friend Trina Rodriguez.

So, bring your date, or just be our date! I promise to bring chocolates and wear red.

Many thanks to my distributor, Third World Newsreel for setting up this incredible partnership.

Mosquito wins!

I’m thrilled and honored to announce that “In Bed with a Mosquito” won the top prize for doc short at last week’s inaugural CMJ CineMinis Short Film Competition in NYC. The competition was stiff, lots of incredible stories all beautifully shot. But probably the most special part of the evening was that this was Betty’s very first time seeing the film on a big screen and with an audience. Let’s just say, she had some instant fans!

So eternal thanks to the crowd, the judging panel and the CMJ film festival crew who put on a wonderful evening of fantastic films.
